Today the people behind ThePirateBay announced bayimg. But is it just another image hosting website? Hardly.
What we have here is a fresh look at image hosting. There are a couple areas where they clearly innovate and improve upon the image hosting model. First, its the clean URLs. URLs are bayimg will look like this "http://bayimg.com/KaPgOaAAf" rather than http://www.generichosting.com/image.php?img=image348353.jpg". Hmm I wonder which looks better? Max image size are 100 meg (whos gonna use that much !?). You can even upload them in .rar or .zip and have a sideshow created automatically. Each image has optional tags for organization. Each image also has a password that the unloader can put in to delete it. That's a lot of genuinely useful changes, right? Also, they say that images will be uncensored.
These may seem like subtle useless changes to some, but others do appreciate them :) Maybe you need to be a geek to notice these things? In any case, PirateBay coders did a marvelous job creating their own image hosting site from scratch. Take that imageshack!
Oh, its also important to remember that they will have their own youtube site out soon as well. http://thevideobay.org/ due soon.
