I know you already rolled your eyes, but hear me out. iTunes started out being able to play ONLY in iPods on their proprietary format. That makes the software itself an illegal monopoly in regards to digital music purchasing. There is no question about it. Tey were just as bad as any other company trying to force people to use their application, such as Microsoft with Internet Explorer. Do people care? No.

It took the EU suing Apple to get things changed and for them to finally offer a DRM free mp3 format of music. Now Apple and iTunes is praised for offering mp3s with iTunes Plus for $1.29 a track. OMG, isn't that fantastic? I can't wait.

Okay seriously. I have already stated that people are idiots in previous blog posts. This still holds true in this particular instance as well. iTunes and iTunes Plus is an absolute ripoff. Only computer illiterate idiots would ever buy shit from iTunes. Which just so happens to be 99.55% of the portable music player owners.

Don't worry, because I can help you. Check out http://allofmp3.com/ and look at their prices. Open that link up in a new window, then click on a random cd and check out the prices. Notice anything? They actually base the price on the length of the mp3 and the bitrate you wish to purchase it. Not bad at all, huh? The default bitrate is 192k/s which is fine for the average joe.

But wait, you like your iTunes and don't want to switch to buying from a website? Go tohttp://www.alltunes.com/ and download that application. It is essentially the same thing as the website but in an application that will run on your PC.

Do yourself a favor and switch. Then tell me how much I kick ass. :)
