Nintendo Wii Sucks

I've followed the Nintendo Wii craze since the start. How everyone thought it was the greatest thing since the Mario Mushroom power up. How its way more fun than the PS3 and 360. Well, the Nintendo Wii sucks.

So why does it suck? Games will not support and will never run in HD resolution. In this day an age to NOT include HD support is completely unacceptable. For a console to be even considered "Next Gen", it NEEDS to have this! Games are in their own proprietary format. which means no DVDs or HD DVDs. The guts inside this console are pathetic. The hardware was outdated before the console even came out. The games do not vary in genre, and they are all geared towards toddlers to teens.

But wait, people say the controller is revolutionary ! To a point, yes it is. Remember the glove for Nintendo a long time ago? The truth is that Sony and Microsoft can and probably will make a controller similar to Wii controllers. That is the ONLY thing Nintendo has going for it. If you want to put down 150 or 200 dollars on this system cause of a controller, go right ahead.

But wait, some people might say Nintendo lets you download the classics! Give me a break. There has been emulators around so you can play your classic games on many consoles and the PC for years now. Not to mention there are those plug and play retro games that work with any tv.

People who buy the Nintendo Wii are casual gamers, and I have no problem with that. But the console is far from revolutionary. Its not the best thing ever made. And please, for the love of god, develop a game thats NOT based on Mario.

@ ZeroHeroNero : Let me see if I get this, you find it confusing to play a videogame on a 360 or PS3 but you are smart and tech savvy enough to operate a computer, log into the internet and post a comment on web page article? don't make me laugh.
To all those people who find it confusing: my cousin is 3 years old! and in less than 30 minutes of first having a controller he was blazing thru Marvel Ult. Alliance. Now if you are adults or at least teens, how come you find difficult to use a real game controller when a 3 year old kid can get used to it in a few minutes?

Thank god someone finally said something about this piece of crap console. I do acknowledge the fact that the Wii is number one in sales but its in last place in the console wars to me. It's graphics are no better than the ps2. I do not consider this console next gen. It has few games that let you play against people online and the games suck anyway. I got a Wii last christmas and me and my sister got bored of it within a week. The only thing going for it is the stupid controller. It's fun to use in games like Wii sports but any other game it's useless and annoying. The only thing going for the Wii right now game wise is the super smash brothers game, which isn't saying much. The saddest part about this is the fact that the people at nintendo truly believe that this game console can relate to hardcore gamers. There is no way in hell that this thing can attract hardcore gamers. This console attracts 5 to 10 year olds and retarded fan boys. Don't buy a Wii it sucks. By the way I sold my Wii. Oh yeah no matter what you say to me fan boys you look like an idiot using the wiimote.

I had a Nintendo Wii. I even stood in line for 6 hours in the cold to get one! I was first in line! I was pretty drunk too. Might as well make the most of it, right? And I bought a ton of games! And guess what? I traded them all and the Wii for a PS3! Best thing I ever did. Now I have a blu-ray player and some awesome games. And I have a 360 and I can say that the Wii SUCKS in comparison!

i have played the all 3 consoles but i only have a ps3 and i gotta admit the xbox 360 has the best selection of games but the ps3 has more power and free internet but the wii has.... pancackes

The Nintendo Wii is a stupid console.Yes,I admit it has fun games,revolutionary control,ye ol classics and accesible price!...but the truth is...it totally sucks!Bad Wi-Fi Connection,games for little kids,horrible GUI,stupid(but "portable")design,I mean the thing can't even run in HD!I went to Best Buy for a freakin' 40" Full HD for what!?To keep staring at it!?I spent $1,300 dollars because i thought:"The Xbox got a cool HDMI Ready cable for resolution up to 1080p and so does the PS3,then the Wii must have one too!"...I was so stupidly foolish and dumb...Where the hell did I got the "The Wii has the same resolution as a PS3 and an Xbox 360!" thing!

In the end,the Nintendo Wii is officially a little better looking Playstation 2 with a better control and worse games...as simple as that!

The Wii is a Half-Gen abomination. It's just a parallel of the pre-fab PCs made for idiots who know nothing about computers, but want to check their e-mail. The Wii tends to pigeonhole itself into gimmicky, shallow party games and track shooters. I now own an Xbox 360, and I gotta say, I'm impressed to the Nth degree and filled with a warm, fuzzy feeling that you only get from a truly fulfilling gaming experience. When I played the Wii, I felt insulted as a gamer and as an adult. Millions of 10-year-olds will disagree, I'm sure. Everyone else needs to take their blinders off and drop the extra cash to really get into the game. As they say: "You get what you pay for". As a side note, the PS3 is making some pretty weak attepts to pull people in. A handful of popular franchises and the ability to play a format that I don't own and can't even afford to rent (B-R) isn't even a decent attempt to get my attention. All hail the Green Ring Of Glory. That's the end of my story.

Let's set the record straight. People don't say PS3 is great to feel better about their purchase. I know more and more people who are selling their XBOX 360 because it continually breaks and scratches their gaming disks. Eventually the only thing you will have is "DISC UNREADABLE". And no, I'm not even going to talk about the RED RING OF DEATH.

Second of all, Halo may have been "revolutionary", but it is definitely OVERRATED. Playing Call of Duty 4 makes Halo 3 look like a primitive game. And as for MGS4? I'm a PS3 user and I don't even like MGS4.

I recall seeing someone say that gaming is not all about the graphics -- listen, no one is saying that it is. But WII fails in the GAMEPLAY area too. Just admit it already, you got sucked in and you made a mistake.

I would take a 360 or PS3 over a Wii ANY DAY.

My nintendo wii has gone un-played for about 5 months. I don't feel like swinging my arms about all the time when I wanna relax. Why not make optional controller for every game?

And though graphics aren't everything, after playing my 360 on my 37 lcd, and then the wii, I just can't stand that choppy low res look.

Not to mention most of the games I can't stand to play for more than 10 minutes.

Fun for kids, but boring for most real gamers. I think i'm just gonna sell it on ebay, maybe get a PS3.

I have to admit I outgrew FPS a LONG time ago and because of that the wii has been a complete blast. I love wii sports, the interactive game play, all my old games, and some of the new games. Graphics have never done anything for me. Bitching about graphics reminds me of the NEDM meme. Graphics do not make games better playability does.

I have given up looking for a Wii at the $249 retail price, and now after having a good long look at one and playing one, I decided to NOT buy this skunky over-hyped toy. The Wii Fit stuff sounds attractive, but cheap ass controller problems and super high prices, zero availability, and the fact that the Wii Fit regimine is totally lame as fitness made me decide to bypass this one. Thanks Nintendo, not having them available has given me a chance to not be an impulsive idiot for once. For fitness I'll take a free bike ride and get off my video game ass anyway.

Nintendo was good on it's heyday but they should give it up Microsoft and Sony are kicking their ass big time, and it's their own fault for concentrating to much on their first party games that basically come out once in a blue moon and let's face it Mario in every game really sucks, it's their third party games which they should be concerned about but since Nintendo doesn't let the third party developer take advantage of their consoles tech cause Nintendo has to do it first that's why I hope Nintendo drops out so people don't waste money on that piece of shit console called Wii.

I agree. I owned the wii and I only liked it for a good few hours. I received the 360, and seriously I never looked back from there. I feel like Nintendo does cheat the hardcore gamer, and also manufacturing useless gimmicks like the Wii Zapper which is nothing but a piece of plastic that holds your Wiimote and Nunchuk....
Do us a favor Nintendo please... focus more on your handheld consoles than make a new one.. Where did all the magic in the big N go...

How can they even say the wii is 7th Gen? it more like 5th gen in terms of power. Innovation is useless without good games that take advantage of that innovation.

I got a Nintendo Wii and I like it but I don’t play it much because I realized after school and work and homework I just want to chill and sit and play games not jump everywhere, do high energy workouts, and box with the air. So if you are like me and have long hours at work stay away from this system or it will become a 250 dollar paperweight before you know it...

Also you mentioned Portal. By far my most enjoyable game in awhile. It was a total shock to how good it was and the end of the game was the best ending ever!

I bought a wii because I too was sucked in. Thought games like super mario galaxy was amazing. Then I played portal on the 360. Holly jesus! I wanted to kick my self in the fucking head! How could I be so stupid. I'm a hardcore gamer and I got sucked in. The 360 is now the only console I play. The wii is the apple mac of the gaming world. It got smooth a white and attractive aesthetic appearance that sucks in fucking knuckle heads who have no idea that whats inside the box is actually utter crap. Man my ps2 is so much better. A fucking remote isn't innovation. I am so sick of wii fans always sticking up for the wii and writing what they believe to be witty comebacks like "go play with your heater (360)". I haven't ever had a heating problem with my 360. Only idiots who lock them in there television cabinets with no ventilation get that problem. It heats up for a reason!! cause its so fucking powerful pumping out HD graphics and doing insane algorithms in nano-seconds it burns the wii to dust and its shitty "two gamecubes stuck together with duct tape" hardware. Nintendo is a joke and I hope they fade away in to obscurity!!! The games suck. I just hired mario kart to see if it was going to at least bring some new life to the wii gathering dust but I'm fucking sick of it and the wifi service doesn't work cause there servers are to full. It is my opinion that the bashful gamers make fun of other systems so they feel better about their purchase. I'm sorry, but a lot of PS3 owners are on the blogs talking smack about the other systems. This is because they are upset about their systems. I am not a bashful gamer, but when someone makes frequent insulting comments i think your a douchebag. Therefore I will state my opinion with facts- just facts and with limited opinion. The 360 in better that ps3.
1better games, stfu about resistance halo blew it away. Ps3 people talk about metal gear solid when the franchis is fun but its not that great.

4 blu ray isn't that big of a deal- jusus christ dvds are just fine. yeah sure its cool but its not that great. Also the blu ray player in the ps3 causes there to be longer load times because it is slower.

i just bought the wii to play smash bros. brawl. that's it. you all may say the wii sucks that might be because you just don't like this one game; because this one game is reason enough for people to buy the wii and was for a majority of people on my campus. oh and as for the virtual console being a money hungry service- yeah if it was just that then people wouldn't be pushing their dollars into it, ROMS and emulators are still illegal, but besides that it's a bit difficult to get multi player action on most roms working anyway. furthermore, there are just some games i've never heard of that kick way more ass than games now. bomberman93 is 5 players? back in the day when four slots were not available you have all these games that have the capability (snes era) but now that its a reality there are no such games in existence. (halo series was awesome for the lan line parties)... i forgot what i was saying sorry.

Wii sucks. I'm a game tester, I work with all three of the "next gen" systems. I own a 360 and PS3.

The graphics on the wii are garbage, the online play is garbage, the "waggle" is boring after an hour, the game selection is terrible, etc etc.

The wii is no where to be found, that's why it sucks. Nintendo doesn't care about their customers, all they care about is making hype to make it seem like it's popular. It's obvious that if the Xbox or PS3 got an attachment similar to the wii-mote (which they can easily do), they would totally demolish Wii in sales.

made me understand nintendo though. i got 500 bucks out of that peice of crap. its like taking candy from a baby.

All of the previous statements I must conquer with, my brother bought a Wii just to be part of the craze, its completley horrid, the graphics are shoddy and rival that of a Ps one. I myself own a 360 with live and 8 or 9 games, no contest it blows the wii right out of the water, nintendo needs to pay attention to to their fanbase instead of screwing them over, but when you are a heartless corporation I guess those sort of things are uninportant as long as your putting the mopney in the bank. Nintendo for the sake of all gamers, dont make another console, much appreciated :)

I've been tempted to get a Wii since they came out, simply because it's the only way I could ever get my spouse to play games. The problem is, I can think of only 2-3 games I'd actually want to play, and I can't justify buying a console for just one or two short-lived gimmicky sports games.

Meanwhile, my PS2 has a massive selection of great games of all genres (and I'm collecting them all -MUWAHAHAHA!). I never jumped on the PS3/X360 bandwagon, but I have a ridiculously overpowered gaming/dev PC and the big console hits usually get ported within a reasonable time frame. Besides, I have no idea how people can even play FPSes on a gamepad. Halo on Xbox was ok, but it was so much better with a keyboard and mouse on the PC!

The Wii totally blows...the games suck, the system itself is completely undepowered and Nintendo is making about 2 games per year(minigame collections don't count). All two of its "Mega Games" RE4 and Zelda: TP are GAMECUBE PORTS!! To top it all off Nintendo is trying to sell you all the extremely crappy games through the Virtual Console before the ones you really want to buy, I know Nintendo really loves money more than any other console maker but c'mon, cut your fans a break! The Wii sucks and is nothing but a money-making machine for Nintendo and nothing more....no worthwhile games so far and nothing too great on the horizon...what a piece of crap..
