Playstation 3 games are appearing online already. Not only that but the first blu-ray movie has also been accessed via ps3 linux on the 28th of November. Apparently, they first achieved accessing games on Thanksgiving Day. I just caught wind of this two hours ago. By the way, this post is intended for the geeky type. This will all sound pretty foreign to you if you keep reading. . .don't say i didn't warn ya.

How has this happened so quickly? Few years a group called PARADOX cracked the PSP. Since Sony "rushed" the PS3 out the door, they didn't bother to alter their copy protection schemes on their games so people couldn't access the data. They already had an inkling where to start on the ps3, which is why it didn't take long for games to be accessed. And as a side note, for games to come out online this quick is pretty pathetic for Sony. But very very good at the same time.

I don't know all the details, don't even understand it fully myself. I'll probably look back on this post and feel like an idiot, but what the hell. There is a distro of linux called Yellow Dog that essentially turns the PS3 into a PC. HUUUGE news. First they need to figure out how to play these images back on the ps3. Just because game images are released online doesn't mean its cracked. This is just half of the job. Though I get the feeling it should be before 2007. But whats important is that there is a method to reading blu-ray discs and dumping them onto PCs.

Most would have to at least care about being able to access blu-ray movies. I personally thought we'd have to wait years, or worse. . .never, before we were able to download blu-ray movies online. All that has changed now. It could also happen by 2007.

Then you'd have the problem of being able to play it back. Would you just download an image file and mount it on your PC and watch it like that? Blu-ray drives for PCs are hundreds of dollars, no one is gonna choose that route. Maybe even stream it on your xbox 360 from your PC? Who knows. Its 2AM and im fucking tired as can be.
