All of the Verizon phone users with a relatively new phone might have heard about Verizon Navigator. For those of you who haven't heard about it, it is a GPS navigator. You can get directions to a certain destination, find various things in the local area such as ATMs or just get the local map. It is one of the best applications ever made for a phone. In fact, I haven't seen anything close to this. But of course, with cell phones these days nothing is free. It will cost 10 dollars a month or 2.95 ( i think ) for a single use. Luckily, they offer a free demo trial for 15 days.
I tried it out during the demo and thought it was great. It's extremely accurate and makes driving blind to a destination pretty easy. So maybe there is a way to get the demo trial for a bit longer? The answer is yes, as unlimited as you wish.
The VZN Nav uses something called Brew. All verizon phones store the save data for brew applications on your phone. So what you will need is a cable to connect your phone to your PC and download an application called BitPim. Install it, select your phone model and get phone info. You can do a whole bunch of things with this application such as downloading/sending pic/movie/music files to the PC or phone. But we want to use it to find a file called "prefs.dat". In order to see this file you will need to go to 'view->show file system'. Then simply delete that file, uninstall the VZN Nav demo and reboot your phone. Careful though, keep in mind this will delete the preferences for all of your Brew applications. But that is all there is to it.
But really how useful is this if it has to be done every 15 days? Well, it is indeed annoying to have to do this every time to save 10 dollars a month. So I suggest paying for it if you use it a lot because it's such a great app. The other option is deleting the demo and prefs.dat from your phone after you play with it (because you will), so this way you'll have the VZN Nav demo for when you really need it. I can understand paying 10 dollars a month for unlimited use, but not more than 99cents for just one use. Sorry Verizon. =P
