I just finished flashing my LG 8500 Chocolate phone to the new 04 firmware which includes speakerphone support, mp3 player tweaks, unlock the phone with any button, and various other fixes. Unfortunately, Verizon didn't include changelog.txt =P. For further information, go to howardforums.com, which is where I found out about it.

Please keep in mind that you need an LG 8500 cable to connect to your phone to the PC. It should take about ~20 minutes to update, depending on how many files are on the phone (such as ringtones, apps, etc). It is probably best if your battery is close to fully charged just in case. The phone will say things like "no service" during updating and will reboot a few times, but don't freak out. Of course I take no repsonsibility if you break your phone, but then again, I have heard no reports of anyone doing such a thing. Just follow the instructions. If you don't feel right about doing it this way, go the safe route and go to a verizon wireless store and ask about an update.

For those of you who are willing to update the phone yourself, download (53 meg) the file and PLEASE follow the instructions.

Also, if I get contacted by verizon or anyone else telling me hosting these files is illegal, I will promptly comply.

To use the speaker phone, during a call you will see an icon for it (which is the music button). People who I have talked to while using the speaker phone can't even tell when I'm using it.
