For those of you with an hdtv and directv, you might have heard about the new mpeg 4 hd HR20 dvr for the past year or so. Well, it has finally come out with the price tag of about 400 dollars. So what to do?

Get it for free of course.

What you must do is call directv and ask about the dvr, they will tell you its about 400 dollars. Hopefully, you have purchased the tivo hd dvr somewhat recently, like in the past year. Then tell the person that you were promised to get it for free because of how much money the tivo hd dvr was. The person will likely pass you off to a higher representative and you must explain the story all over again. This DOES in fact work. We got the new dvr with a free new dish installation.

Directv might not be the best, but they sure are flexable on the cost of their services and products. So get going.

I just got off the phone with DirecTv and after following the aforementioned advice got my free HD DVR with 4 months of free programing. In addition to this I was offered an addition HD DVR for $99 for my second tv in 6 months. Apparently you can only order an HD DVR once every 6 months. No sweat! Thanks guys for the advice.

Just a follow up since I just got the reciever installed today, FINALLY. I posted a picture. The people who own a tivo hd dvr and think all dvrs are the same. Well, your wrong. Its worth it. There is little to no lag, picture seems brighter and clearer even on non-mpeg -4 channels, you can even change the size/color of overlay text, and easier conflict resolve with recorded shows. Those are just a few things I can recall off the top of my head.

Only bad thing is the fact it doesnt recognize my reciever volume controls. =\

There is no mention of me using the juice to get it for free. Plus dont forget we did have to pay $20 for shipping.
