Recently there has been a substantial push for the acceptance of the Google Chrome browser. Rightfully so since it is superior to Firefox in every way except extensions. So how does SEObook relate to Google Chrome? Well, I recently read their blogpost about them porting over their seobook toolbar from Firefox to Chrome. Let's get straight to the only useful paragraph in the whole blost post/rant:
"First of all I think it is a bad idea because if Google owns the search engine and the browser then maybe that is not the best spot to have your SEO research stuff hooked up, but even beyond that I don't think we would make $1 more by creating those tools. Why? Because the people who use Google Chrome for SEO research are not the type of people who want to pay for anything related to SEO (outside of buying links perhaps)."
Interesting quote isn't it? The reason why they don't want to port it over is because Google already owns the search market and because they won't make money off it. While I can't blame them from a business perspective, I can certainly judge them from an SEO perspective.
It takes a solid 5 minutes to understand how to even get SEObar for Firefox without signing up for one of their services. Screams lame.
The truth is that a lot of the SEOBook tools can be found elsewhere. Just look at SEO Quake. They already have a Chrome extension in alpha and aren't greedy bastards. They made it for the SEO community.
SEO is not hard, just takes a little bit of time to learn the ins and outs. Having a workable seo toolbar is 90% of what is required for anyone to do their SEO themselves for FREE. Simply go to SEO Quake.
