Dear Kevin Rose and Digg,
I am writing this rant as a once loyal Digg user. I saw the company from its early days and was pretty excited to see where it would go. It was cutting edge and it looked very promising.
Just 2 years later each time I see a new feature rollout for Digg, its geared towards pleasing investors and gaining traffic. The DiggBar was an epic failure publicly and was evil in every single aspect. It was the turning point, the evidence I needed to see that proved Digg no longer cares about the end users. Instead of giving up the DiggBar, they do further tweaks and now it has blown up in their face once again.
To make matters worse, Kevin Rose claims he has no knowledge of this and has been on vacation for two weeks. A two week vacation for a company like Digg is like taking off an entire month. Why two weeks? To spend time with your kids? Or was it to get away from your stressful weekly gig as a Diggnation host?
Give me a break Rose. With all the attention with DiggBar, you mean to tell me this move wasn't discussed? It takes Digg 4 months to roll out redesigned thumbs up /down buttons. This was talked about by Digg people, maybe he just didn't give a shit to be at the meeting.
Where are the useful new features? Where are comment reply notifications? It's something so very basic. Your townhalls are a lot of talk and no action.
Digg is on the decline. It has been for around a year now. And you know what? It's your own damn fault.
