Twitter sucks because the internet media is ruining it and overstating its importance in our lives.  Time and time again I come across sites like arstechnica and ReadWriteWeb writing posts saying how revolutionary Twitter is and how brilliant its creators are.  Really?  Twitter is basically a simplified blogging platform with limited functionality.  That is it.  It can be coded in about half a day. An idiotic story at ReadWriteWeb sparked me to make this blog post.

Don't get me wrong, I like Twitter a lot.  I use it not only for personal use, but professional use as well.  What I don't like are nitwits who think it is changing the world just because people are Twittering about Iran or MJ dying with their fancy hash tags.  #eatshit

So please, next time you want to tell me how Twitter trends are changing the world I'll direct you to Google Trends

The truth is that the Twitter website lacks functionality and needs features added to it.  I can't even go to Twitter to read status updates in any sort of organized fashion.  I am forced to use Tweetdeck or Tweetie.  Twitter is the only website that is better if you use a third party applixation to access it.  Think about that for a second.

So do I think Twitter truly sucks?  Not really, in fact I prefer it over any other social network.  What does suck are the online "journalists" who think they know what they are talking about.  When in fact, they are drooling at the mouth over Twitter like Megan Fox just sat next to them in a bar.

Twitter is microblogging.  That is it.  Stop stroking them.

I agree to some extent. Twitter is overrated, but sure does provide some great communication convenience if you have an existing user base to talk to. But I'm seeing Twitter more as a tool for larger companies, celebs, YouTube channels - or anyone with an existing audience. Not so much for small business....well - if your user base is always on Twitter - then has some value.

just because something is simple doesn't mean it sucks. however there are valid reasons that it does suck. unfortunately you missed them, but great article nonetheless, because you pointed at some good stuff.

You write up an entry titled "Twitter sucks" and then say in the end that it doesn't really suck and that you "prefer it over any other social network"? Wow. YOU SUCK.

Now go check The Inebriated Discourse's blog to see how a REAL "Twitter sucks" blog entry is supposed to be done, if you have the balls.
